History of St. James
     St. James United Methodist Church began as a mission outreach in July of 1987 when 23 people gathered for worship in a rented house. In August of 1988, we took a giant step in our development as we moved into rented space in the Palm Lake Office Building. For the next six years the church continued to meet in the office building, frequently renting and utilizing more space, and continuing to grow rapidly.
      Finally, in February of 1994, we moved into a building of our own. The 15,000 square-foot, multi-purpose building was the first phase of a master plan. We doubled our space when we constructed our new Education Building in August of 1998 and construction has begun on a new Children and Youth worship space.
      Truly the Lord has blessed the efforts of hundreds of volunteers who have given their time, energy and love to make this church what it is today. We are grateful to each one and to God who brought you our way. It is our prayer that God will continue to bring talented, gifted, faith-filled people our way and we will see the blessing continue through St. James to all of New Tampa and beyond.

Weddings
If you are interested in holding your wedding here we would be delighted to talk with you and look forward to working with you. The first step in the process is to fill out the Wedding Application and return it to the church office with the appropriate fees. It is very important that both are returned; no dates are reserved without both application form and fees being received in the church office. Once the Wedding Application and fees have been received by St. James, please contact Orvella White to schedule your four pre-marital classes. These are required prior to the wedding.
